According to the BBC news in North America, the success of the movie catapulted Hudgens in to a household name. At the Teen Choice Awards Hudgens and Efron won the Best Chemistry award for their roles. Hudgens is at present filming High School Musical 2 in St. George and Salt Lake City, Utah.
