Quotes

Topher Grace
  • "I had to ask things like, 'Who is Nipsey Russell?' and 'What was Petticoat Junction?'... I play an awkward teenage boy who gets rejected. I've done so much research in that department, I can't even begin to tell you... Sometimes I look at the clothes, I wonder, 'What the hell were they thinking?"
  • "I'm really open about talking about how green I am and how I want learn. I want to be the least good person in any project I do."
  • "There is a way people like to compartmentalize you on sitcoms and I've been very cognizant of not letting that happen."
  • "I was in the 8th grade, and I got up the nerve to ask this girl to a dance. I had a really big crush on her, but she had no idea. She was at her locker, and I just walked up to her and blurted it out. She just said, 'No.' She didn't try to lessen the blow by saying, 'I'll see you there,' or something. I think she even laughed a bit. And I remember everyone in the hallway watching."
  • "The show is now like a game of trying to not laugh during takes, you know, to not break character and laugh. It's so much fun."
  • "It's heartbreaking, because there's no funner job in the universe than being one of those six kids. I was in my teens when I started. It's ridiculous to even try to imagine my life without being able to laugh all day with those five people. I never cry, like ever, but I have a feeling it's coming."
  • "I don't talk about my personal life with the press."
  • "I do like any kind of project that has both comedy and drama in it because in life you don't have one day where everything is funny then the next day everything is dramatic."
  • "I'm very social. It's just most of my friends are not actors."
  • "Most of my freshmen year at USC I'd just been partying, and I had zero direction."

Topher GraceBorn Christopher Paul Grace on July 19, 1978, Topher is no longer a newcomer to the entertainment industry. He developed a taste for acting at a very young age, first performing in musical productions of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (originally by Andrew Lloyd Webber) and Gilbert & Sulivan's The Pirates of Penzance at Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. His talents were brought to the attention of Bonnie and Terry Turner in 1998 when they saw him perform in a high school production of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.

Topher's role as Eric Forman in "That '70s Show" marked his television network debut. He has since had starring and supporting roles in feature films such as Win A Date With Tad Hamilton!, In Good Company, and Traffic, as well as several others. His most universally recognised film role was opposite Tobey Maguire in the summer blockbuster hit, Spiderman III.Grace honed his acting skills at the renowned Groundlings Improvisation School and the Neighborhood Playhouse and at the University of Southern California.

However, he had cut his formal eduction short owing to the demands on his time that That '70s Show was placing. By his reasoning, he was already doing exactly what he wanted to do for a living. As with many actors, he finds the real thrill of performing comes from the immediate feedback of a live audience. His theater credits include leading roles in Our Town, Godspell, Lost in Yonkers, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, The Night Before Christmas and The King and I.
