Robin Charles Thicke was born on March 10, 1977 to a Canadian entertainer Alan Thicke and vocalist Gloria Loring. He was interested in music at a very young age. At the age of 12 and 13 he appeared in several television shows but by the time he was 16, he realized that it was music that he wanted to pursue. He became friends with Andre Harrell, the President of Uptown Records and then struck a deal with a subsidiary of Interscope Records called ‘Nu America Records’. He also penned a wide range of hits for pop artists such as Jordan Knight, writing and co-producing an extensive share of his self-titled album and others such as Christina Aguilera, Usher, Mya, Marc Anthony, Brandy and Michael Jackson.
In 2002, Robin Thicke released his debut single "When I Get You Alone". The track showcases Walter Murphy's "A Fifth of Beethoven", which contains recording of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony. Globally, his debut single became a chart success. The single was featured for the soundtrack of Agent Cody Banks. The success that he gained from his debut single was enough to signal the release of the album, with its name changed to “A Beautiful World.”In the year 2005, Robin Thicke married Paula Patton, an actress. They are currently expecting a child in the spring of 2008. He also performed as a guest on the remix of Will Smith's song, "Switch". After he was signed to The Neptunes label, Star Trak, he began working on his second album entitled “The Evolution of Robin Thicke”.
The first single from the second album was called "Wanna Love U Girl" which was produced by Pharrell Williams. The song experienced chart success on urban radio in the United Kingdom. His second single, the ballad "Lost Without U" was aired in Urban & Rhythmic stations towards the end of 2006 and early 2007. The second single was a major commercial success in the R&B/Hip-Hop frontier in the United States of America. The album was later certified Platinum by the RIAA. Thicke soon realized that his record label Interscope had the potential to release his third single "Can U Believe". In April 2007, Thicke co-wrote a song with Angela Via, a Mexican-American singer called "Wrong For You", a single from Via's upcoming debut album “Supergirl”. He also appeared in a song called "Follow My Lead" by 50 Cent.
