Richard Noel Marx, known for his adult contemporary and pop/rock music, was a well known singer of the 1980s and the 1990s. Most of his compositions were based on the slow ballad genre of music. He has risen to super stardom in the second half of 1990s. He has his home studio in Illinois. Richard’s compositions are mostly hinting towards the dark side. His compositions make one understand and see the dark side of day to day lives like relationships. He has been quoted a number of times saying that he does not like writing happy songs. However, some of them have a tinge of romance in them.Some of his compositions later were also inspired by the classic rock music style, like the hit single ‘Don’t Mean Nothing’, ‘Satisified’ and ‘Too Late to Say Goodbye’.
His debut single "Don't Mean Nothing" and self-titled debut album launched his career as a solo artist in the year 1987. He emerged as a top producer working with some of the biggest names in the music business like NSYNC, Barbra Streisand, Josh Groban, 98°, Kenny Rogers, Lara Fabian, Sister Hazel, and . Recently, he written and produced records for Emerson Drive, Natalie Cole, Keith Urban, Paulina Rubio, Kenny Loggins, Chris Botti, Michael Bolton, Chely Wright, Meredith Edwards, Hugh Jackman and Sissel.Some of his hit singles include "Endless Summer Nights", "Right Here Waiting" and "Hazard". He is the first solo artist to have his first seven singles hit the Top 5 on the US charts. In February 2004, Richard won the Song of the Year Grammy Award for "Dance With My Father," the song that he had written with Luther Vandross.
