Priyanka Chopra was born on 18th July 1982, in Jamshedpur, India, to Capt Dr Ashok Chopra and Dr. Madhu Chopra. Her father was a surgeon in the Indian Army Medical Corps. She has a younger brother, Sidharth. She was brought up in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh and was the favourite in the family and grew up in the affection and warmth showered on her by her parents, grand parents and other relatives.
Her schooling was in Lucknow in La Martinière Girls College in Lucknow, Maria Goretti College in Bareilly. Later went to the US, where she was a student at Newton North High School in Newton, Massachusetts and North Delta Senior Secondary School in North Delta before returning to India to complete high school at Army School (Bareilly). She began college at Jai Hind College in Mumbai but left after winning the Miss World pageant. She wanted to be a Software Engineer or a Criminal Psychologist.
Priyanka has had a very varied upbringing. Having been born in an Army family, she moved from Leh-ladakh in the north to Kerala in the south from Bombay in the west to Jamshedpur in the East. She imbibed the ethos of the multicultural Indian society.Priyanka Chopra, Miss World 2000, is today among the top stars in Bollywood. And, going by the film offers she has bagged of late, she seems to be all set to rule Bollywood in the days to come.
She made her acting debut in the Tamil film industry with the movie ‘Thamizhan’ (2001) and two years later the young starlet took her entry in Bollywood with Anil Sharma’s ‘The Hero: Love Story of a Spy’. Piggy Chops (a nickname she is often addressed with in media circles) went on to deliver commercial success with films like ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’ (2004), ‘Krrish’ (2006), her biggest commercial success so far, and ‘Don - The Chase Begins Again’ (2006). Since then, she has established herself as one of the most successful and popular actresses of the industry.
Though the actress hasn’t been able to secure any major BO success in her name since 2007 yet she has many big budgeted releases lined up for release in her kitty in 2008 and 2009, which include God Tussi Great Ho, ‘Chamku’, ‘Fashion’, ‘Sahib Biwi Aur Ghulam`, `Kajri`, `Drona`, `Qurbani`, `Chamki Chameli`, amongst others. She is also the brand ambassador of prestigious brands like Tag Heuer and Lux Crysrtals and Spice Telecom.
