Quotes
Mahendra Singh Dhoni
- "The IPL will help us but not only us. There are quite a few players from other countries but most of our players are in the IPL. The best thing is that our youngsters will know how to handle pressure, when in the last over you need 10 or 15 runs, everyone in our side has faced that situation. It's good exposure for our guys to play against guys like Brett Lee and Shane Warne."
- "Cricket is a very cruel game, the moment you relax is when you are in trouble."
- "Instead of yorkers, we wanted to bowl back of the length deliveries in the final three overs. Unfortunately it didn't work."
- "We have seen other teams do it regularly so we wanted to use this opportunity of warm-up game to try it out. Unfortunately, it didn't work on Monday. If we have to go to the basics of bowling yorkers, we would do so."
- "Frankly speaking I don't know. I think it is always better to have problem of plenty rather than having nobody who can fill in the space. It is good to have Rohit Sharma in good form. He was in good form even in the IPL if you see. He is one batsman, who has scored consistently. As of now, I don't know what will happen when it comes to the batting order. It is good to have talented and performing cricketers in the side."
- "I don't think we bowled well in the last two overs. I think we need to improve on that because today we were looking for the basics like yorkers. You have to see who is batting at that point of time, what innovative shots he can play, whether the ball has scuffed enough to get the reverse swing going."
- "It is a tough call to make right now but definitely it is a thought on my mind now. As of now I can say we have the option of part-time spin bowlers. We don't have the talent in the side who can bowl seam up so we will have to sacrifice one fast bowler if we have to take that extra spinner. You also have to look at your strength and you don't want to be too light when it comes to batting just because your batsmen are in form."
- "I'm privileged to have a team with such outstanding talent, the boys are looking forward to defending the title. It makes my task of captaining the team quite easy."
- "Recent reports of a rift between myself and Sehwag amount to nothing but false and irresponsible media. As we prepare for the World T20, we are a superbly unified team. The team spirit is good as it has ever been, with each individual supporting each other, on and off the field."
- "I am not sure about Viru and even though Zaheer has started bowling, it may be too early to risk him. They are important players, but we are trying to adjust without them."
