Luca Calvani was born on August 7th 1974 in Prato, Tuscany, Italy, Luca embarked on a successful modeling career during his teen years, working with all of the top names in the world of fashion, including Giorgio Armani. After graduating from college, he moved to New York City, where he studied acting with Ron Stetson and Susan Batson. Among his American TV roles,the HBO series Sex and the City (2001), where he starred opposite Alan Cumming and Sarah Jessica Parker, and as the villain Dante on CBS TV's daytime drama As the World Turns(1956). In Europe, he worked in theatre, TV and a Film, among them 'Ferzan Ozpetek' award-winning His Secret Life (2001) aka "Le Fate Ignoranti."
Calvani is trilingual, he speaks French and Enlish in addition to his native Italian. He's a versatile actor and good athlete. His talents include singing and a real flair for comedy In 2007 he shot Il Commissario Manara (2008) directed by Davide Marengo for Raiuno, co-starring Guido Caprino and Jane Alexander. Luca was then cast to play Enzo Calvini, opposite Clive Owen in Tom Tykwer new action thriller The International (2008), set to be released worldwide on feb 2009.
In 2008 he worked with director Riccardo Milani on Questo รจ Amore (2008) to be released in the fall by Rai Uno and has then joined Kristen Bell,Josh Duhamel, Danny DeVito, Anjelica Huston and the incredible ensemble cast of Disney's When in Rome (2009) a romantic fairy-tale-comedy directed by Mark Steven Johnson. More comedy looking ahead, Luca hooked up with Alexis Bledel, Bryan Greenberg and Scott Porter in the upcoming indie feature, The Good Guy (2009) directed by Julio DePietro.
