Trivia
Garry Moore
On June 26, 1950, he was rewarded with his own 30-minute CBS early-evening talk-variety TV program The Garry Moore Show, which was a shorter version of his radio show.
Between 1947 and 1950, Moore began to make tentative steps into the new medium as a panelist and guest host on quiz and musical shows.
Left "To Tell the Truth" (1969) shortly before Christmas 1976 to undergo surgery; Bill Cullen, and later Joe Garagiola, took over as substitute hosts for the remainder of the syndicated show's 1976-1977 season.
Moore retured for one final show, taped June 26, 1977 (and promoted as the season premiere of "Truth's" 1977-1978 season), where he announced his retirement and handed the hosting duties over to Garagiola.
Mr. Moore's final TV appearance was on The Second Annual TV Hall Of Fame Awards in 1984. He was there to honor his most famous protege, Ms. Carol Burnett.
He was awarded 2 Stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Radio at 1718 Vine Street and for Television at 1680 Vine Street in Hollywood, California.
